There's only one occasion every year when we gnaw, tear and bite into this scrumptious treat.
Marinated sweet and salty, sticky and flame-licked to perfection.

But you leave just enough room.
Then wiggle out your fingers and grab something shining yellow and calling out to you..

And let it melt as you sip on that drink in your hands ..

Have a Happy Chinese New Year this 2012,
but remember haircuts before CNY! Or you'll even scare ghosts away.

And as you meet up with aunties and uncles, show love and kindness. They may point out things about your weight or height that u might like or dislike sometimes, but its only cause the last time they saw you was a year before! And even so, don't they always hand you that red packet in the end? :)

Its the beginning of a whole new schooling year!

But its time to be awake and focused because there's another 12 months lying ahead of us, yes..
So, have we set a goal for this year? Are we mentally ready for whats next?
Or are you just gonna go-with-the-flow and end up lost in the wave of all that's going on around you?

Well, don't be lost then!

⁶ And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. Colossians 2:6

Did you know that, We are called not only to believe, but to FOLLOW CHRIST.
Why?
Simply because God's plan for your life is to follow Him.

No, we don't just cincai follow..We follow because He sees where we need to go and leads us there.
There's an amazing plan for your life, set and ready for you to accept it!

And also because..

1. Following is a Command.
We are called to follow, not inspired to follow.
As Christ-lovers, we follow Him knowing the best is for us.

But we aren't forced, because..
2. Following is a Personal Choice.

¹⁸ One day as Jesus was walking along the shore of the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers—Simon, also called Peter, and Andrew—throwing a net into the water, for they fished for a living. ¹⁹ Jesus called out to them, “Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!” ²⁰ And they left their nets at once and followed him.

²¹ A little farther up the shore he saw two other brothers, James and John, sitting in a boat with their father, Zebedee, repairing their nets. And he called them to come, too. ²² They immediately followed him, leaving the boat and their father behind. Matthew 4:18-22

James and John was there with their father, but they went when Jesus called (even leaving behind their father) because they knew it was a decision only they could make for themselves.

# How do you know when you are following Jesus?
When He turns around, you are right there.

²⁶ Anyone who wants to be my disciple must follow me, because my servants must be where I am. And the Father will honor anyone who serves me. John 12:26

Even Jesus Himself was a great follower.

¹⁹ So Jesus explained, “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what he sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does. John 5:19

3. Following is about FOCUS.
Its by always asking, Jesus what are you doing now?
What are you doing in my life today? Where are you?
Remember to keep your eyes on Jesus.

Where are you leading me?
Is my focus on You?

¹ Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. Hebrews 12:1

Ask yourself: Who is infront of me? What is my focus?
What have I left behind?

Don't be lost, Follow the best GPS ever. And you will reach your destination ;)

or maybe even Awesome Man?

Whichever hero you chose to be, now with that power you can't just go running around like a headless chicken!

That wouldn't be hero-like, because a hero does not do things to benefit himself. He acts for others!

"There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends." John 15:13

And a true hero is seen in Jesus. Because, He has set the standard. And there is a difference between a true hero and a hero from the comic books/tv. A true hero sacrifices for others, just like Jesus did for us on the cross.

But, you don't have to die on a cross to be a hero. Don't! it has been done and we are forgiven of our sins!

Be a hero in whatever situation you're in! Help that blind man cross the road, take out the trash before being asked or stand up for someone you know who's being bullied.

Jesus saved you, now you know what it takes to be a hero.

HAVE A HEROIC WEEK AHEAD. UP, UP AND AWAY!

Is this glass half empty or half full?

Some say its half empty, Some say its half full!

Well, everyone has their own opinion, rightt?

Ever wondered, What JESUS thought?

Matthew 9:35-38³⁵ Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. ³⁶ When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. ³⁷ Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. ³⁸ Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

Jesus was born in the most humble of circumstances, simple and small even though he was God's Son to show us the greatness of his love for us. It was sincere and deep without needing to show-off.

-He went to all, (the Bible does not lie!) of the towns and villages so ALL would hear about God's love.

--He had a purpose to share the good news and heal the sick. He wasn't on vacation! no Aloha 'Oi!

---And Jesus came with compassion, which means Jesus felt a tender feeling..a softness for us. A warmth and a concern.

Why?

Because when Jesus looked, He saw us attacked/teased/disturbed/bullied and weak/abandoned /defenseless.

He saw those people, but he also saw us. Doesn't it sound familiar? Haven't we all felt like that, or feeling it even now..

He saw, and then thought. . there's so many lost souls out there, so many wounded and hurt. But there are so little people to help them, to pick them up and tell them about Jesus who can save them. That's why his disciples went out and spread the word, missionaries, pastors and people go out to tell people about God.

And He calls you to do the same too.

Mark 16:15-18 ¹⁵ He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. ¹⁶Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. ¹⁷ And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; ¹⁸ they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”

Now you've seen what Jesus sees, its time to DO what Jesus has asked you to!

So, what is God's Word?
The word of Life ~

The helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit ~

Solid food for our Spirit ~

^11-14I have a lot more to say about this, but it is hard to get it across to you since you've picked up this bad habit of not listening. By this time you ought to be teachers yourselves, yet here I find you need someone to sit down with you and go over the basics on God again, starting from square one—baby's milk, when you should have been on solid food long ago! Milk is for beginners, inexperienced in God's ways; solid food is for the mature, who have some practice in telling right from wrong.

What does it do?

Makes us complete ~

⁵ But if anyone obeys his word, love for God^[a] is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in him.

Convicts us ~

You purposely walk pass that person's class everyday and laugh a little louder when you're near,
and go panic when you don't see that person in the canteen two days in a row.

Have you felt that way about God?

As humans, we need to see, hear and feel to be close or interested in someone.

So its hard to be close to God, when we don't see, hear or feel him all the time..Righto?

BUT THERE'S HOPE!

APPROACH

We need to first find Him, and we will findd Him!

Luke 10:38-41 (NIV)

³⁸ As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. ³⁹ She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. ⁴⁰ But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!” ⁴¹ “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, ⁴²but few things are needed—or indeed only one.^[f] Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

⁹ Meanwhile a large crowd of Jews found out that Jesus was there and came, not only because of him but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. ¹⁰ So the chief priests made plans to kill Lazarus as well, ¹¹ for on account of him many of the Jews were going over to Jesus and believing in him.

There are two obvious characters in the two passages, Mary and Martha. Martha cared about the chores she was suppose to do, the house, the food, the guests. While Mary was a people-first person, wanting to listen to Jesus' stories and kept important to her that Jesus was here, and nothing else mattered more.

We do so many things all in one day, and forget the one thing we actually need to do everyday. Jesus said that Martha was troubled by many things. And in that way, we are constantly worrying about this or that daily. We end up not choosing to spend time with God, we don't wipe his presence with our hair..in that sense, WHY? Because we fuss over the other little things we possess in this world instead of looking over to see the picture that hey, God is here.

As we become a church we wanna grow and be BIG. And what stops that is us, us not understanding each other. Complaining about others who has left all the work to me? Or those who seem to be the popular kids, or those we just don't like. Yeah, they look like they're not doing anything. But who are we to judge..right? We think differently, from how others think. Something like the Sunday School song, God has made me special, there's no one just like me.. Literally!

Moving forward shouldn't be about pushing others out or pointing at the wrong ones, but trying to work together cause we ALL wanna move forward..

Just don't be some Lazarus, then we'll throw you out!

How's your heart today?

Dear Young champions,

I'm pretty sure all of you schoolers are in your mid terms. If not, a 2 -week holiday and you're probably reading this at some sun-baked island on a nice little comfy chaise.

So, how's your heart today? a weird question to greet someone with huh? But do you know our hearts, (not the coronary!) play a core role in our being? It affects the way we feel, the way we speak, the way we react, and the way we respond to God. Throughout the Bible, almost every character that you would have come across with, God never ceased to to address the heart, if you were to type heart on biblegateway's keyword search, you'd see throughout sciptures, from Genesis to Revelation, that the HEART was mentioned.

Do you know that till today, God still talks about the heart? In fact, the HEART's the first thing that He checks with a person. That makes you and I!

“Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” (1 Sam 16:7)

Do you also know that the way you behave reflects the state of your heart? Especially the way we respond with our word.

For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.(Matthew 12:34)

Sometimes it may even make us feel things that aren't true to what's really going on with us or even lie to us. It's out of control. There are times when we just don't understand what's going on. Anybody know what I'm talking about?

The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?(Jer17:9)

But God knows it perfectly well. He has given us His Holy Spirit to help us through every kind of heart-matter.

"And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit" (Rom 8:27)

I pray today, that you'll give your hearts to Him. You and I can't manage it on our own. but God's peace can.

"And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" (Phillipians 4:7)

Above all, remember that your heart plays a very important role in loving God. And that's a massive deal we're talking about! God! So take good care of it with God's peace.

If you have been living on another planet and DO NOT KNOWWWW, ps.Julie has been moved a Sunday forward from being previously set to speak the next week. (not this week!) *whoop-dee-doop!

She has dedicated her life to be a pastor, an INSPIRING person and filled to the brim with a great love and awe for God. But more importantly, our very dearly missed Pastor and Commander will be back at his familiar spot, perched on the edge of our stage on the 24TH OF JULY!

So if you weren't in church the past Sunday you missed out! because..
WE HAD A GREAT CELEBRATION

OUR TWELFTH BIRTHDAY PARTAYY!!

One big candle for the past 10 years and 2 small candles we blow with happy tears!

We kicked off the celebration with an acoustic performance by some of our very own youthalivers!

A video of photos taken in the last 12 years of YA! played back forgotten memories and adventures

of us in funny haircuts and chubby faces.

Then we got up and boogeed into game time!

And had some fun running around playing H2O..

RUUUNNNNNN!!

We had a silly time playing this game where EVERYONE went running across the room trying to fill their gap with a boy or a girl from across the circle.

Pity those LOSERS that were too slow and had to leave the circle though! Aww.

Then soon after the short and VERY sweet sermon by Pastor.T,
we sang and cut the CAKEEE!

Building a Strong Family

Some families have it all : A cozy home, loving parents and loved children;

some families continuously sit on a roller-coaster ride : Happy when something good happens, angry when something bad happens and sad when something tragic happens;

some families live for one day at a time : Momentary happiness, long worried faces and striving to make the best one day at a time;

some of other families are lost and broken : Missing a family member and unable to move on or just separated although nearby;

and some have no one at all.

We can change the situations we are in, we can have a better family. A stronger family. Because God called us to Build a Strong Family.

3 Foundations to consider...

- Love God.

Deuteronomy 6:5

The Message (MSG)

5 Love God, your God, with your whole heart: love him with all that's in you, love him with all you've got!

Love the Lord, Yahweh and no one else. Knowing in every part of yourself that God is watching everything and testing everything I say, I think, I do. What we say and do affects our family members, our younger siblings, the people who see us everyday.

Sometimes do we really even think twice about the actions we take? Like when we snap back at out parents when they nagging at us.
When we say something we shouldn't, do we just pretend like its not important?

- Be captured by His word and Pass it On.

Deuteronomy 6:6-7
The Message (MSG)
6-9 Write these commandments that I've given you today on your hearts. Get them inside of you and then get them inside your children. Talk about them wherever you are, sitting at home or walking in the street; talk about them from the time you get up in the morning to when you fall into bed at night. Tie them on your hands and foreheads as a reminder; inscribe them on the doorposts of your homes and on your city gates.

When we here or read from the bible, we should share what we've learned with the family. Letting God show us how to handle ourselves with our family..

For example,

Ephesians 6:1-4
1-3 Children, do what your parents tell you. This is only right. "Honor your father and mother" is the first commandment that has a promise attached to it, namely, "so you will live well and have a long life."
4 Fathers, don't exasperate your children by coming down hard on them. Take them by the hand and lead them in the way of the Master.

Here it tells about children, to obey their parents and respect them dutifully. Also to fathers, they shouldn't provoke/ criticize/ pressure their child, but to guide them in ways that the child will find easy to follow.

- Bring His goodness and Providence into the Family
Deuteronomy 6:10-12
10-12 When God, your God, ushers you into the land he promised through your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob to give you, you're going to walk into large, bustling cities you didn't build, well-furnished houses you didn't buy, come upon wells you didn't dig, vineyards and olive orchards you didn't plant. When you take it all in and settle down, pleased and content, make sure you don't forget how you got there—God brought you out of slavery in Egypt.

God's desire is to bless us, but watch out that we do not forget God's goodness.

It says in..
Deuteronomy 8:19
19-20 If you forget, forget God, your God, and start taking up with other gods, serving and worshiping them, I'm on record right now as giving you firm warning: that will be the end of you; I mean it—destruction. You'll go to your doom—the same as the nations God is destroying before you; doom because you wouldn't obey the Voice of God, your God.

This is for us to be reminded that all we have is A Gift from God. Especially, the privilege of having a family whether perfect or not.

Let us refocus, to what's good about our families and work on it:)

Don't you hear that often?

Your tummy gets rumbling and you beg your parents to drive to McD's or KFC,

There you see a familiar face...

"So what will you be gettin', Honey?"

Well, since its 2011, probably its like..

"You eat here or Take-away?"

Whether its the first, or second, these faces are the ones you see more often than some of your family members! They serve you Monday to Friday, and on the weekends, and public holidays too!

Always smiling, they cater to your every demand and they look like they're having a great time like.. Ronald Mcdonalds, Right?

When you order a McChicken, well they get you a McChicken

When you order a small fries and two pieces of thigh Ayam Goreng McD spicy and Sprite without ice,

that's exactly what you'd get

When you drop your tray of food all over the floor, spilling the coke and half-licked ice-cream cone on the marble floor,

Guess who tells you "It's alright" and beams a big smile, then gets the mop and wipes it up for you?

And when you're all fuzzy and get the wrong order, get frustrated and make a big scene at the counter,

Who is expected to apologize?

-The very weak employee, of McDonalds.

Serving others, is not easy.. A waitress gets paid to paste on a smile even after hours upon hours of taking orders and serving rude and unappreciative customers.

As Christians, do we expect a paycheck at the end of each month?

Psalm 100:2

Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.

Can we do it?
Yes. Because we confess with our mouths that we love Him, and because He died on the cross to save us.
We can.
We can give God our time/ work with a bunch of people we (maybe) think are SUPER ANNOYING, and turn a cheek when someone says "Aiyah, your performance..Not that good also la!", replying that person with a not-mean reply like "Yeah, we didn't have alot of time to practice. So,I could've done better." Cause when we serve God, we serve others at the same time..But that's a story for another time.

So, wanna practice now? Say it together...

They each hold a little weight and give a little balance, to form a tall tower!

We're the same too, we each carry a weight and together we balance God's tower when we fulfill God's Purpose or Plan in our life.

1. Purpose. What's your purpose in life? Is it something that will please God?

2. Passion.

Did you know that if you look in the dictionary Passion, besides other meanings,it will also come up as : 'the sufferings of Christ between the night of the Last Supper and his death'

Passion is a push/ a strong feeling/ a big excitement about something, or someone. Sometimes, the difference between a first class student and a student from the back class is just a strong desire to do well/ a wanting to study hard.

I'M GONNA DO MY BEST!

3. Prayer
It is not about praying just when we need God to let us pass in a test, it is us Praying All The Time. Having a conversation with God and sharing with Him our life. At the end of the day, it is not our own works but God's ways that get us through. And it is not our hands that direct but God's plan that brings us where we will go.

In Proverbs 16:9 it says..

⁹ We can make our plans,
but the Lord determines our steps.

So, how many P's do you have so far?

Have you ever past through days and not remember them?
"Eh, today's Tuesday already? April? Wow, so fast!"

Wake up, go school, eat, watch tv, bathe, sleep and it goes on and on and on and on
and then its the weekend. Aeon on Saturday and church on Sunday. Argh,..Monday again!

Out of 12 other disciples, Paul is an example of someone who chose not to live a life like any ordinary person.
FUNFACT! Unlike what you think, before Paul became a Christian and changed his name, he was Saul. A man who was cruel to Christians and sinned by killing them.
But he changed, How?

1)The Finality of One's life
Translation: Knowing The Ending of life

Paul, like everyone else knew death would come. But he didn't know when exactly he would die, so he lived everyday like his to the fullest. He made every single day about doing God's work and being his servant. He didn't want to live in regret that he might die and never be able to glorify the One person who had saved him.

I chew for you: When you're getting old and getting white hairs..Whether you dye or don't dye your hair, you are still going to Die. We can't think that we'll be alive forever or that we're Superman, we will die when the time comes, so live everyday for the glory of God.

2)The Finishing of One's life
Translation: How We Live Our life

Are we doing the things God wants us to in this life?
Just like some of us who are athletes, we run when the whistle blows *PHWEEET! We run as fast as we can, to be first to reach the end.
Wait! You look around and think.. I'm Form Three, but why am I running with the Form One kids??
So don't just do something without thinking..Hey, is this what God wants me to do?

How do we know what God wants from us?
We pray, we talk to other Christians, and read the Bible..
If it is in God's plan for you to do something, he will make ways or give you things to help you make it happen. If God has asked you to feed someone poor, he will not forget to feed you.

At the same time, don't live a life doing things just because your afraid, of your parents, or of you teachers or of your future..Live your life with faith, that God will take care of you and take you where u need to go.

3)The Finale of One's life
Translation: The Last Episode of your life

Yes! You watch SpongebobSquarepants, there is only 100 episodes. So at the end of the whole SpongebobSquarepants show, there will be a very special last episode..

SPONGEBOB LAST EPISODE: BIG ACTION

But, you watch and think What lah! Not special also..
So disappointed right? All the episodes nice, but the last one, not even funny at all..
Wasted time watching Spongebob only..
The producers should have end the show properly right?
Its the same with our life, if we work so hard, do well for our exams and be a good daughter or son, all good then in the end we make one mistake and our life ends. We end up finishing our life badly.
Paul decided to live his life for God and made God popular everyday of his life,
even though in the beginning he was bad,in the end, he died as a man who loved God.

So even if we can't stop school and be a pastor now, we can still tell our friends about God and importantly,
love God! Live a life that God wants us to live, God knows what we want and need even before we know. So trust him, and Live a Life that Counts! A life that's not same everyday.

Well, Hard Work Pays Off! So, don't slack and expect to get straight A's when your results are back after enjoying yourself during the holidays. You might just faint!

Yes, there's only so little time left but don't waste any more of it. Cause we don't wanna regret whatever time we have, live for the present and work for the future!

Oh-no-you-didin't! Giving up too soon is NOT the best thing to do!

Mid-terms are near, but according to the Ministry of Education (Probably PPD is more familiar?)

They were once a part of Junior Church but now they are spreading their wings and moving on to join us in YA! Teens. Let's offer a warm smile and welcome them as friends, soon to be a part of our family (:

Cause just like it was yesterday, don't you remember your first day in YA! Teens service?
Many may feel different from others, but surely..

You felt a little awkward, shy and out of place..

or a teeny bit confused and just "HUH"?

Or just plain B.O.R.E.D?

Having a friend to sit next to you, laugh along, even just to share your feelings and be weird with you! that would have helped to make it better..
All you need to do is to be a friend, and you'll earn a friend easily, Cause these newbies need you to help them feel loved and a part of the youth!

Today, we celebrate not just our mothers but every women. God has embedded that unique strand for every female heart to nurture. Every female is a 'mother' at her capacity be it for her friends, siblings, kids and so on.

Mums, you possess the tenderness and empathy of our Divine Maker. You know it right from your gut when you see something's not right. They say it's every mother's intuition.

So this is a salute to all the women of valour, strength and dignity. Women of God! We cherish you, we embrace you, we honour you for you! Beautiful in every way-MUMS.

It's nearer than you thought

Calling every young person out there! We've witnessed, heard and read about the natural disaster that has happened in the land of the rising sun and some forecast based on the richter scale that seismic tremors are on the move in the pacific.

No, it has got no relation to what you saw in the movie 2012 that the world's expiring and disintegrating!

"It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority..." Acts 1:7

However, we can recognise that the SEASON is drawing near that Jesus is coming back for His own for the second time.

Guys and girls, this is not the time to be gungho out of impact for prayer. WE ought to pray and intercede everyday. The days and times may not be known to us but they are near. Talk to your Father!

Don't live a day carelessly and aimlessly. Seek Him diligently! Wait on Him patiently, delve deeper into His presence and His Word and hold on to it with your life.

The things of this world will one day fade away, but His Word(HIM) will remain forever. God is eternal, He is everlasting. He is sovereign over all!

To some of you who are a tad bit or extremely afraid of the unknown, tomorrow and the future, stay grounded in the Word! Don't wait for another disaster to pull out your bible from your drawers! He hasn't lost the battle, the battle is still His and forever will be. He hasn't let go of anyone of you, so don't let up on Him.

I'm praying for Asia and Malaysia that is home to me which I will never overlook. I'm praying for you youths! Stand firm in all adversities and take delight that God would NEVER leave you.

SALT.

nope. Not S.A.L.T. Let's not get our hopes too high that this would be about the 'oh-so-hot' Angelina Jolie. It's about the 'salt' God wants us to be. Hehe.

You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses it's saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled on foot. -Matthew 5:13

Now, let's talk about salt. Here's a little illustration : If u were given a piece of raw meat and some salt, what would u do with them? Obviously, to rub the salt on the piece of meat right? But, why is it that we have to that? Here's why.

To season the meat.

To cure the meat.

To preserve it ; prevent it from being contaminated/corrupt.

Here's another one : When u eat a packet of chips. Delicious, tasty, salty chips. U'd get really thirsty after that. Why exactly? - It's the effect of the salt. Salt naturally makes u thirst.

God was letting us know in Matthew 5:13 that we ought to prevent the world form being corrupted moreover, to make them thirst for God. But in order to do that, we have to first be pure. Our lives has to attract others otherwise, we wouldn't be able to accomplish what we're called to do.

The system of the world has corrupted itself. Look around u and turn on the TV. Corruption is everywhere! In countries, politics, entertainment industries, workplaces, school, families. Its all over the place. We can't run from it! But u know what? As God's children, we're enabled to stand above it. He has even bestowed upon us the great responsibility of helping our friends, families and the people around us from being part of the corruption as we live our lifes in the world, NOT OF THE WORLD. But how?

By causing them to thirst for God. By being an influence. By living lives attracting to them. As we do that, they would be curious and yearn to know how amazing God really is. We must be an example in our actions, speech, and conduct. If we are judgmental or we love gossiping or even add vulgarity in our speech or we post things up on Facebook or our blogs that reflects only negativity, we are just going to turn them off. So, do not do that!

As you strive to be the salt of this world, always remember that God never gives up on us. So we shouldn't give up on ourselves. In your falls and failings, hold on strong to the promises of God and never let go.

Let's get salty! ;D

In whom do you put your confidence in?

Our existence is surrounded with many elements. Elements of joy, pain, bittersweet, love, hatred and FEAR. Fear, a word that has different implications and definition but mostly referred to as intimidation, being afraid of. The question is, who puts fear(intimidation) into our lives? Can it be God? The bible makes it clear that God didn’t give us a spirit of fear(intimidation) but a spirit of a sound mind(peace)…

As much as we could easily, with no shades of gray, point fingers at the devil blaming him for all fear has to offer, let us not accredit him for what he does best- to chain God’s precious with sinister shackles of all sorts. In view of our titular significance, we ought to always remind and frequently examine our hearts and our very tangible being- who do we place our confidence in?
Life is an undeniable thin air. Flimsy, here today and gone tomorrow.

The major “chain” that binds man or even Christians up in all ages, is the FEAR of the UNKNOWN. Uncertainty, abstractness, wavering paths, no man in his right mind would voluntarily set foot on that track. Who is to say that life is problem free though? Who is to say Christianity is a waterslide to heavenly bliss? God never instill fear(intimidation) in us. Million dollar query-WHY?

The universal truth of his redemptive nature of drawing His creation back to His heart, His purpose and His beautiful and mysterious will. He does it so that we’ll know that there’s a limit to every creation and “perfection” (that includes our authoritative figures, the things of the secular), but it’s His word and Him that is boundless (Psalms 119:96). Confidence in Him, may be, temporarily bleak, but never late of life and light. The word of God says that His ways are higher than our ways.
This means that His timing is never the same as we intend.
What should we think, say or even do? Fixing our eyes on one of the psalms that David wrote in Ps. 27, we learn that, “the Lord is my light and salvation, so why should I be afraid? The Lord protects me from danger- so why should I tremble?” That scripture is presented in its simplicity that our God shields us from FEAR.

I like it how King David puts His confidence in His King of all of the above in words in verse 3- “ …even if they attack me, I remain confident.” Uncertainties may pressurize us in ways that crush, and some occasional rock hard slaps in our face, but it’s times like these that we look at adversity in its face and shout, “my faith in Him will not be shaken .” When circumstance or situation disappoints, we’ll be like Jesus, in moments of excruciation, we’ll lift up our head and say “ let thy will be done, not mine.”

So how do we empower ourselves in Him and in the language of the 21st century, “suck it up” and move on when FEAR creeps in? In the same chapter of Ps. 27, we also learn that “ the one thing (we should always ask and do and seek the most)- is to live in the house of the Lord(in His presence, don't withdraw) all the days of our life, delighting in His perfections and meditating(thinking and remembering) in his Temple(in his presence)”

Jesus, the fulfillment of God’s freedom for mankind over the power of darkness, came to testify the truth of God into our lives. It’s so that we understand that we are no longer in chains of doubt or intimidation, but faith, hope and love from Him who inscribes His word (commandments) on our hearts.

Love has the power to help you make it through the long haul and keep you from giving up halfway. We are called to love for God has first loved us. If there is someone out there you can only wish didn't exist in your life because that person hurts you or is burdening your life, choose love. Do not hate them, but hate what is evil - their sins. Keep praying for God to change them. And that's how you love. But remember, love from a sincere heart and u will be blessed.

Hi there!
It's 2011 already people!! Oh, how swiftly has time passed us by, no?
So, it's the fourth day of the new year already. How has it been for u? I've always found the start of new years exciting. No matter how the previous year ended, i would look forward to start fresh again in the new year just anticipating for God's plans to slowly unfold for me. I guess everyone would somehow feel the same too right? I mean, people start making resolutions and planning stuffs and just waiting to see how their new age is gonna change things for them. All together, its exciting! But hmmm, this year.... I'm a bit freaked by the thought of SPM waiting for me to sit for in a few months time. I have this image of a bunch of papers just laughing and smirking at me. GAhh. Major exams. Not fun. not fun at all. SCARRRRY. Despite all I feel, I know that I have no worries for God is good. Amennn?

Yepp. So here's a little piece of encouragement. God loves you and He's there every step of the way! Just leave it all to Him. Draw strength from God. Seek comfort from Him. Find rest in Him. And let Him be the constant joy in your heart.

Oh, and for those who came up with a rough start, worn out, and fears what's ahead, THIS IS FOR YOU TO READ Yes, read! It'll only take a minute. A minute and 'poof!' there goes your solution!

It's as if 2010 just glistened it's way before our eyes and in just 2 days' time, we're advancing into a new timeline 2011.

While many scrabble for a pen to jot down one's resolution for the year in hopes to start the new year afresh, why not end the year strong?

dropping off some tips that may help:

1. are your conflicts resolved?

-we're forgiven to be forgiving, always seek to restore what was damaged, scarred...

(Matt 6:14)

2. have you stopped to appreciate someone who has done something for you?

-tweet, facebook, sms, email, beep and whatever technology has offered to make the world small and accessible, use em' to send your personal gratitude and honour that person!

The State of Heart Leaders- Andy Stanley (part 2)

The third heart issue leaders deal with is jealousy.

Professional jealousy is understandable. It may be unavoidable to some extent. But when it is unrecognised and ignored, it has the potential to destroy the synergy of a team. Jealous leaders measure their success by the failure of others. It is difficult for a business or non-profit to sustain momentum when leadership is focused on how well others are not doing rather than looking for ways to move their own organisations forward. Maybe most crippling of all, leaders who carry jealousy in their hearts rarely surround themselves with competent and talented people. It's too threatening.

If you can identify with all three of the ailments cited above, welcome to the human race. We all wrestle with guilt, anger, and jealousy at some level. That's why we need a Saviour. The good news is that through Christ we can bring these enemies of the heart under control. They may never be completely eliminated, but they certainly don't have to control our lives or contaminate the climate of our organisations.

If you have a secret, tell somebody. Confess. Confession eradicates guilt. Chances are you've confessed to God. Now go confess to the person you've wronged. Angry? Forgive. Forgiveness is simply a decision to cancel a debt. Take time to decipher what you think the people who've hurt you owe you and cancel that debt. Otherwise, you will make the people closest to you pay. Jealous? Look for ways to celebrate the successes of people who've pulled ahead of you. Write 'em a letter. Praise their accomplishments in public. Refuse to allow jealousy to take up residence in your heart.

The writer of Proverbs summarised it this way, "Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life." You live from the heart. You love from the heart. And yes, you lead from your heart. So pay attention to your heart. It impacts everything you do.

Leaders who fail to monitor their hearts jeopardise their organisations. If we neglect the arduous work of monitoring what's going on inside of us, our organisations will suffer. In Matthew 15:19, Jesus warned that,
"... out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander."

Can you think of anyone who derailed his or her organisation or career because of anything on that list? I'll bet you can. In fact, I know far more stories of failure rooted in these issues than those resulting from a lack of competence or skill.

Look at Jesus' words again. Everything we say and do springs from our hearts. The implications of this verse are huge for those who manage people and organisations. What's in our hearts eventually affects our ability to lead effectively. Consequently, learning to guard or monitor our hearts is critical to our success as leaders. There are three things in particular that if ignored have the potential to create chaos in the heart of a leader and consequently in his or her sphere of organisational influence.

The first is guilt.

Leaders who carry unresolved guilt are forced to hide a part of themselves from those to whom they are closest. They have a secret. They are forced to expend time and energy to ensure that no one finds them out. They know they are not completely trustworthy. Often they assume no one else is either. Guilty leaders have a difficult time trusting. Consequently, guilty leaders have a difficult time building teams.

The second enemy of the heart is anger.

Angry people live as if the world owes them something that they can never quite put their finger on. Angry leaders are impossible to please. Angry leaders attract followers and employees that are more concerned with making their bosses happy than doing what's best for the organisation. Employees' poor decisions eventually put them at odds with their angry bosses and the cycle of dysfunction continues.

“Pillar” or “Pillow” people?

There are absolutely no qualms to what YOU, yes! A young person like you can contribute, serve and influence your church, community and the regions beyond.

You may be wondering, what does the first paragraph have to do with pillars and pillows?

The church is not confined to the four walls that enclose all of you. It is YOU! You are the church. Your life, your whole self is God’s residing place where He dwells in through Christ’s costly sacrifice that made it possible.(Eph 2:21-22), (1 Corinthians 6:19).

So what can we do as believers who congregate week in week out on a Sunday or a Saturday during service and to some of us who are serving in a ministry or two? Romans 16, Paul writes to the Roman church first to commend on a few champions of the faith namely Phoebe, Priscilla and Aquilla who have risked their lives by sending his letters to the Roman church. This history traces back to the days of Nero where church persecution was prevalent and ongoing back then. Secondly, he warns the church to “watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in [any believer’s, own emphasis] way that are contrary to the teaching [the believers, own emphasis] have learned. Keep away from them. For such people are not serving our Lord, Christ, but their own appetites….”

The enemy does not just attack the church or God’s people from without but within as well! What kind of person are you today in your church? Are you a pillar to your church or a “pillow”?

Let me list down to you some of the characteristics of a pillow person:

1. - All fluffed up. Everything goes.

2. - Spiritually sleepy

3. - Low resistance level

4. Comfortable and immovable. Complacent with their own confines and are not willing to extend themselves to others.

Pillar person:

-G Grounded but not immovable

2. - Servant-hearted

3. - Consistent, reliable and humble

Dear all, whether you are serving in the capacity as a worship leader, frontliner, or even a steward (usher), you can be a pillar and not a pillow to His house and eventually to your circle of influence. Pillar people serve sacrificially. They serve with an attitude of abandonment to self and they live and serve for His glory and not their own renown. Are you willing to be the hands and feet of Jesus, regardless of what the cost? Are you willing to “die” to man’s applause and seek to please Him more than anything else? Do we have “Paul-s” and “Esther-s” in our midst that have a heart to serve his or her generation in accordance to His plans and will even if it is requires sacrifice.

Just recently, two Chinese girls from China have not been to church or even experience church in their entire life came to the church where I currently attend right now, ELIM Pentecostal, and decided to join the service from there on. Why? They reasoned to us that someone in Uni from our church was kind to them.

You see how such simplicity of living- when we live our lives for His cause and be the church to the broken world out there, that we are able to point them a step closer to our loving God. So let me encourage you to continue to live your lives as pillars for God, able to withstand pressures and forces of all sorts, in your work, ministry, and schools and beyond.

Believe in you most indefinitely.

Every direction that we take leads to a destination. This principle is well learnt even in our Geography texts! Bearings, degrees of deviation, right or left turns...

This principle applies to our lives! Whatever direction that we take on, be it our study life, our relationship with our parents, our ministry and our personal walk with Him. For instance, if we choose to adopt the path of being diligent in our work, being attentive in class, getting the subject right before we're all well on to the exam hall, we know that we're not going to be disappointed once we step out of the exam hall because this path assures us that we've done everything that we can.

Question. How do we know which path to set foot on? How do we know if we're lost? I guess the explanation of "we'll never know whether we're lost until we reach nowhere" comes into the picture.

So what's next? you may ask.

Proverbs 7:6, King Solomon, one of the wisest man ever lived in his generation after King David writes a very insightful story. Here he says "at the window of my house, I looked out through the lattice. I saw among the simple,.. a young men, a youth lacked judgment " now we may want to pause and give a deeper thought to that line " youth lacked judgment".

When young people are referred to as someone who lacks judgment, it literally means we don't live long enough to experience life. Which is true till this day! There's nothing to be ego-deflated about.

As " he was walking down the street near her corner to her house, ... then came a woman to meet him dressed like a prostitute... She took hold of him and kissed him... " I have fellowship offerings at home today I fulfilled my vows" says the woman.

Here we don't even have to be a graduate bible scholar to know that this young person's heading for trouble. And what can we understand from the statement where the woman said " I have fellowship offerings..." she's basically saying that I have done my part in confessing my sins and I'm ready to commit it all over again. Dressed like a prostitute, committing adultery(vv 19 my husband is not at home), do the math, the young man must have been thinking, "wow, I'm wanted, i'm desirable..."

Solomon knew that he was heading into trouble as the scripture ends " all at once he followed her like an ox going to a slaughter... little knowing it will cost him his life" I hope you're not lost up till this point. Solomon's painting a picture illustrating that we just don't know where we're heading sometimes due to our inexperience.

“For the law was given to Moses, but Grace and truth came through Jesus Christ” John 1:17. Grace. God’s precious gift, His one and only, His favoured one, our righteousness, our forgiver, our counselor, our comforter and close friend-Jesus.
Before his humble arrival, it was the law that God pierced onto the tablets to reflect man’s fallen nature.

Spelling every sinful nature that man is prone to, inclined towards and tempted into, only the high priest of the highest order could perform the atonement of man’s ugliness. His glory, splendour and love were hindered by our scars.

His heart aches. Every beat pounds for reconciliation, restoration and return. And it was then, “the Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.” Through him, the sick were healed; the blind was bestowed back with sight, the broken and hurting received comfort, emptiness was made whole again. Yet “the world did not recognize him… and his own did not receive him.”

Grace never lets up. Unconditional, unfailing love drove him to the ghastly crucifix, Golgotha. His crimson flow poured out as the nails of judgment drove deep into Grace’s guiltless hands and feet. “Forgive them, for they know not what they do.” Grace pleads.
Who is Grace? He is Jesus. God’s begotten son. In him, the remission of sins is possible. In him, we find reconciliation with the Father. Accepting him results in tremendous revolution. Liken a wild beast chained for his sinister and evil desires, Grace resides and breaks those chains. “Christ in me, the hope of glory.”

Condemnation now falls away, never again to besiege man. A new path created. Now man has a choice. A choice to fall into the arms of Grace, or crippled by fear and damnation. Grace is always welcoming, accepting, loving, caring, pardoning and enfolding.

Treading on life’s hazy roads, falters, fumbles and follies of the past may creep in. But “His Grace is more than enough, Grace’s (his) strength is shown in our weakness.” "His word saves our lives". Therefore, let us abandon our old wretched ways and run after Grace. The fountain of living waters and life.

Choose Grace I pray. For it’s Grace that fulfils what the law requires. Understand and immerse yourself in him. For in him, we are a new creation, royalty, beautiful, pure and blameless . It is by Grace. Grace has a name and it is Jesus.

Youths! how has your week been? Our sincere prayer for you is that you would find comfort and the peace of God over your daily lives and most importantly, the closeness of your walk with God.

Here's a scripture verse for you to ponder. Something that I pray would calm, help and strengthen you as you walk through this season of your life.

(Isaiah 40:27-31)
"27-31Why would you ever complain, O Jacob,
or, whine, Israel, saying,

"God has lost track of me.
He doesn't care what happens to me"?
Don't you know anything? Haven't you been listening?

God doesn't come and go. God lasts.
He's Creator of all you can see or imagine.
He doesn't get tired out, doesn't pause to catch his breath.

And he knows everything, inside and out.
He energises those who gets tired
and gives stregnth to the dropouts.

For even young people tire and drop out,
young folk in their prime stumble and fall.

No matter what season of life that you may find yourself to be at, let me encourage to not give up on God. Spend time with Him in your everyday life. It doesn't have to be hours of bible study, even the simplest of a conversation with Him, acting out the word of God, and honouring Him in your studies, work, in your families.

We always tend to separate what's "God's stuff" or "ministry" and "our stuff" which could be our work, academic involvement and so on. But God's interested in every part of your life! He wants to be involve in your life! Think of it, the God who created the universe, desires every part of you.

He never get's tired or fed up with our stumblings, He never lets up on you and I and is always mindful of us. (vv28)

When He says put your hope in me and wait on me(vv29), sometimes it may take some time, but that time of waiting builds your character-patience, self-control and endurance, ultimately Christlikeness. There may not be a promise that our lives are going to be a smooth sail all the time, but He promises strength for us!

Hey peeps! Howdy u?
It's the mid-term exam week and ughhh...am i busyyy like a beeeeee!
I guess all u teens are too! Well, while u're in the midst of your busy-ness, doing your business, I'd just like to let u know how my week has been.
It has been an extremely busy, tiring and torturing one filled with exams, tasks and a ton of problems jumbled all up together and everyday I ask God, ''can this day get any worse?'' and then I start to realize, I've not given up. I'm still pushing on. I'm tired but I'm still walking. It makes me reminisce on the 7-hour-under heavy rain-up mountains-empty stomach-hike! It was a real tough day, that day, but God sustained me and kept me singing and laughing till I reached the long house! And all I'm trying to say here is that, no matter what u face, no matter what circumstances u are in today, YOU CAN'T DO IT...............BUT GOD CAN! Yups.
God is our refuge and strength. An ever present help in trouble.Psalms 46:1. Moreover, God is faithful. He will not let u be tempted beyond what u can bear. But when u do, God will also make a way out so that u can stand up under it! You can overcome it! 1 Corinthians 10:13. Lastly, never ever limit God to your understanding for He is far greater than u can think!
So yeah, that's all I wanna share. Press on and trust God, aight? Remember those who've endure and persevered.

Here's just a few things u'd have to know before u run the race.....

Rules and Regulations.

Please do not sabotage another team. Any saboteurs caught will result in unquestioned disqualification.
Any bad injuries will result in instant disqualification. Please take care. For emergencies, contact Ian Teh, Steph Tan, or our first aider, Samson Yap.
Read the clues carefully and follow it's directions. Any form of cheat will result in unquestioned disqualification (this includes calling taxi, friends or family to pick u, or using alternate transportation method other than the suggested ones.)
The eldest in the team remains the babysitter for the entire race. Any decisions made regarding safety should be followed.
If u think you're lost, contact any of the committee. Any calls with inappropriate questions will b disqualified INSTANTLY.
We wont be responsible for any lost items during the race.

Please be at church by 8a.m for registration. Briefing will start at 8.30a.m and the race will start at 9p.m regardless of late comers. The team will only be allowed to begin once all members has arrived and registered.

Please include these items as you'll need them during the race.

F-A-Bulous rite??? lol to maself! If u weren't with us today or u missed out on a few points or u're just better at reading than listening well, I have here bits and pieces on what we've heard from Pastor Gideon today! Before that, here's also a little recap on the sermon last week.

Being spiritually mature. How? - Pst Gideon Lee (18.4.10)Galatians 6:1-10

1Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted. 2Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. 3If anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. 4Each one should test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself, without comparing himself to somebody else, 5for each one should carry his own load.
6Anyone who receives instruction in the word must share all good things with his instructor.
7Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. 8The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. 9Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. 10Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

The verses bolded in blue are the 3 criterias of being a spiritually matured christian. And so, when u are/ become spiritually matured, first thing u'd have to do is help those in the household of believers.

Fruits of the spirit- Pastor Gideon ( 25.4.10)

Galatians 5:16

16So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. 17For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want. 18But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law.
19The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. 25Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.

Fruits of the flesh and fruits of the spirit as verse 17 says, are totally opposite and always in conflict with each other.

What are the fruits of the flesh? ( VERSE 19-21)

Those who are of the flesh will not inherit the kingdom of God.

What are the fruits of the spirit? (VERSE 22-23)

LOVE = unconditional love. The same kind of love Christ had for us.He loved us while we were yet sinners. He died for us. This was the kind of love Paul meant for us to have.
JOY = a good and strong feeling which comes from the inside and doesn't change no matter what the circumstances are. It isn't the same as happiness as happiness comes and goes according to our circumstances but joy is everlasting and eternal.
PEACE of God = harmony in all your relationships. problem free with everyone and the ability not to fear in all situations for faith and peace works together.
PATIENCE = not easily provoked when being tested or tried. cool.
KINDNESS = doing good deeds for others without expecting anything in return.
GOODNESS = the same goodness that we mean when we declare 'God is good!'' for God is generous. So, do not be stingy with all that u have; your time, talent, money, energy, love.
FAITHFULNESS = TRUSTWORTHY. loyalty. Now, are u faithful to God?
GENTLENESS = HUMILITY. NOT false humility or modesty. One that comes from your reverence to God for all glory is HIS.
SELF-CONTROL = victory over sin!! Flesh will always want to do and tempt us to lose and fall so this is a MUST HAVE!

All together God gave us 9 fruits of the spirit. Why call it fruits? Why not gifts or characters? - because, each fruits are seperate yet they are a bunch. It cannot do without one another. And just like a fruit tree, these fruits takes and needs time to grow. It just doesn't happen overnight. But, it needs to be cultivated, watered, and fertilized as it grows for it to be fruitFULL. So, do not rush but do what u must for your spiritual fruit tree to grow. These fruits are your evidence that u are a Christian just as a fruit is evidence for the kind of tree it is.

So, how many fruits can u present to the Lord?

Hey young people!
We're coming to the end of February already. Oh wow, twenty-ten passed by so swiftly cross our eyes! It feels like only yesterday when Christmas ended. Despite how that feels, still so much had occured in this 2 months. God's just amazing! Amen?

By the way, Pastor Gideon wont be with us as he's a speaker for a camp in PD so let's keep him in prayer, aights? ehhemm, this mean we'll have someone else sharing!! To all musicians out there, there will be a Musicians meeting next Saturday from 2-4pm at the MPH 2 hall. So keep that day freeeeeeee!

said her mum won't wake up so soon and that very high chances she will go into a vegetative state.

Fever has went down but Dr said she got Pneunomia ystdy, so they're giving her antibiotics.

Project Love (IT'S A CARNIVAL)

I sure am feeling the LOVE. Are u? We are living up to our theme ''Loving God, Loving People'' and what better way to do it then to have the fun-nest ever Project L.O.V.E! Yup, that's right! U heard me, we had the Project Love( IT'S A CARNIVAL) on just last Saturday and it was SUPERB! This project gave us a chance to love the unfortunate in a fun way! ALL PROFIT, ALL WE'VE EARNED, ALL U'VE GAVE, ALL OUR SWEATS, are going to charity. Great huh? So, enough of the talking, let's check out what happened on that fun-filled day...........................................

Sunny ain't it? God held back the rain for us the thru the whole carnival and released it right after we started clearing up. GAM GAM HO! Btw, that's the garage sale. Great stuff man. I bought 2 pretty shirts for RM4!! RM2 per shirt!!

The peeps who showed and worked diligently!

Even our senior pastor, Pstr. Tony Phang and Pstr. Christine were there checking out stuff from the garage sale! Woots!

And here's the part where everyone drools... -over watermelon? is that possible?

But u can drool over this......yummy! Julian's choco fondue. Marshmallows dipped in choco sauce!

Oh, not forgetting, Suvien's mom's best-in-Klang ICE KACANG! ( see the machine behind Julie)

And, duh, other finger foods too like, sweet corn, waffles, fish balls, nuggets, wrinkled sausages, anjing panas, sandwiches, ETC..

haha, Peter making sandwich. Using his bear hands. As Chiak Chau would quote, '' don't care, use hands! Add more flavour!''

And, for all the pretty ladies, pretty flowers!

Also, we had fish- catching! The kids' favourite. Gosh, all of their faces would be beaming with joy whenever they've caught a fish... I had a friend who came and brought her little cousin who was all grumpy and unhappy being there. But once she saw this fish-catching thing, her mood totally changed and she just wouldn't stop. Then, my cousin took her home when she thought she was satisfied, after a while, THEY CAME BACK TO THE CARNIVAL WITH THE LITTLE GIRL'S BROTHER!! hahahahha. Apparently, the little girl told her brother how much fun she had and forced my friend into bringing them there again..what they did was, they caught all the fishes in that little pool till there was none left, and they'd pour them back to catch them again!! HAHA. Jokers of the day.

SEMINAR ON ABORTION IN MGS - 30/10/09

When Does Life Begin?

According to the bible, life begins at birth--when a baby draws its first breath. The bible defines life as "breath" in several significant passages, including the story of Adam's creation in Genesis 2:7, when God "breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." Jewish law traditionally considers that person-hood begins at birth.

MGS greeted us with the common, high school morning starter- perhimpunan (assembly). It wasn't long enough that the teachers ushered us to the student hall for the seminar followed by a few other students who chuckled and went along with us.

"Selamat pagi Cikgu..." the girls salutated with an audibly heavy tone. Their spirits were soon lifted and brightened up as the teacher on duty introduces the topic that has been consistently shared and imparted in their humble establishment- Abortion. Ps. Gideon soon saunters in as he was welcomed with an applause.

With his usual sense of humour, the seminar was started with a joke titled The Ah Beng launched a rocket to the sun. The girls were amused. Soon, the informative slides rolled in with some statistical evidences of abortion. All eyes were glued intently as Ps. Gideon continues with some shocking facts about the causes and effects of intended or unintended pregnancies.

The hour came where the sound of almost a hall full of girls hissed in horror when some graphic images were displayed on the screen. Many found it cringe-worthy as more images were shown to present the heart breaking truth behind this injustice. While sitting in discomfort, Ps Gideon went on to advise them that boy-girl relationships shouldn't be taken lightly as it requires commitment(looking forward to marrying the significant other), loyalty, honour and respect for one another. Plus, he told them that being a parent isn't an easy task as there are many needs to meet for a household. In addition,he reminded them of their role as a student at present which is to make the best out of their academic years, be it secondary, or tertiary.

Having had faced the hard truth, Ps. Gideon concluded by encouraging them that nothing they could do can make them lose their worth in God's sight. The seminar ended and we were brought to the canteen to sink our teeth into MGS' breakfast delights- nasi lemak and bee hun goreng. After almost 3 years of hosting this seminar it really educates boys and girls alike to value life, most importantly understanding the paramount importance of honouring and respecting the opposite gender when a relationship is concerned.
